The mark of a good attorney is simple yet sometimes difficult to find. Your lawyer should be competent, straightforward, and diligent.
BEING COMPETENT
We only handle cases for which we are particularly suited and skilled. We believe that to be a jack of all trades and a master of none is a disservice to clients in need and a disservice to the public. Each member of this firm has uniquely tailored their area of practice to maintain the highest skill set and knowledge needed for your case.
BEING STRAIGHTFORWARD
No one likes a sales pitch, the run around, or an empty promise. Our goal is to be the attorneys who guide and counsel you and get you through the hard times. You should be better off after hiring your attorney and trusting them with your life. During your free consultation with one of the attorneys in our office, not a paralegal or secretary, you will know exactly what to expect from our office. There are no hidden fees, complicated billing statements, or unanswered questions. If we can help you, we will do everything possible to do so. If we cannot, we will get you to someone who can through our free referral program.
BEING DILIGENT
Once you've trusted an attorney with your family's well-being, they should work as hard as possible to keep your trust. We hold our profession in the highest regard. Unfortunately, we often hear stories from clients who felt their former attorney failed to listen to their needs and represent them to the best of their ability. Their former attorneys are unprepared and want to make concessions for their lack of diligence. This behavior upsets us, and it should upset you, too. We know that failing to prepare is the same as preparing to fail and it is our promise to our clients that we are the attorneys who "out work" the other side. Whether you are battling big insurance companies in a personal injury case, the state prosecutors in a criminal case, or your ex in a family law divorce case, we know your case, your goals, and the law.
I was raised in Lynchburg, Tennessee in a working class family. I remember my parents leaving for work before sunrise and returning well after dark. I also remember when a distracted driver rear-ended our family car and seriously hurt my mother. As a two income family, when my mother was unable to work, our family faced an uncertain future. My parents hired an attorney, and he took away the anxiety, the fear, and the worry. I decided at an early age that I wanted to represent families and be the person who helped during dark times. The actions of a negligent individual can bring your life to a screeching halt and recovering as much compensation for my clients as possible is my mission. During my career, I have recovered millions of dollars for my clients and their families. I promise to not only be your attorney in the courtroom but also a trusted part of your recovery. We don't advertise on billboards because we don't have to.
I was born and raised in Chapel Hill, Tennessee where I attended Forrest High School. I was blessed to be raised by parents who stayed together. These days, our family is the minority.
Everyone has heard the statistic that nearly 50% of marriages end in divorce. That statistic is actually more overwhelming in the South.
Though divorce should be the last resort to a marriage in trouble, there are often circumstances where it is simply unavoidable. In those instances, I will work tirelessly to make the transition for my client as smooth as possible. I keep that same goal for all of my family law cases.
I was born in Chapel Hill, Tennessee where I attended Forrest High School. I graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 2018 with a B.S. in Political Science. I graduated from the Duncan School of Law in 2021 Cum Laude. I knew very early in life that I was required to make the world a better place. I believe that each of us has a responsibility to help our neighbors and that is why I came home after law school. My goal as an attorney is to be a guide for you as you contemplate your future, make legal preparations for your family and to be a guide through the legal challenges which occur on the passing of a loved one.
Kelly has been with the McKenzie Law Firm as an assistant and office manager since 2006.
Kelly primarily works with our personal injury clients. She collects medical records and bills. We have found that your doctor’s notes do not demonstrate the total amount that should be compensated. Most families who go through an event that would lead to a claim don’t realize how challenging it is to get billing and records from medical providers. Once records and billing are collected, there is a multi-step process to get you the maximum amount for compensation.
Kelly is happy to be working with such a dedicated group of people who do all they can to take care of their clients.

I was born and raised in Lewisburg, Tennessee. My husband and I married in 2008. We have three children, two daughters and one son. I graduated from Marshall County High School in 2005 and completed the Dental Assisting Program through the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in 2006. After working in dentistry for nine years, I decided to take a leap of faith and transition into the legal field. I love working at The Law Office of David McKenzie, and I love being able to help our clients as they go through life changing events. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family.
